Cyclefoozelaphone
Waterloo Regional Children's Museum | 10 King Street West in Kitchener
A collaboration between Mary-Catherine Newcomb, sculptor, Peter Hatch, composer and Leslie Wyber, music educator, the Cyclofoozelaphone is an interactive sound-sculpture for children, three to nine years old. Inspired by the hyper-mechanized world of Dr. Seuss, the Cyclofoozelaphone uses stationary biycles that pump air to activate a whacky organ made out of stainless steel pipe and oversize rubber balls. Pipes snake in all directions and have a number of in-line valves which activate various sound sources within the pipesystem. Discovering what valves operate what sounds (and the location of these sounds) and the myriad of possibilities for combining sounds from the suspended spinning whirlenaiders and oversize thumping tubes are a source of endless fascination and play.
There will be a 2pm performance of the Cyclefoozelaphone on Sunday, April 24t.
Please note that only passholders will receive free admission to see Cyclofoozelaphone - others will have to pay normal museum admission unless part of a guided tour.
