Composer David Jensenius will present several process driven experimental sound compositions to honour Open Ears Festival of Music and Sound. This biennual regional festival is recognized as being one of Canada’s most diverse and adventurous musical events. The works presented at Queen’s Square Gallery will begin as a concept and are mostly realized using a computers and simple sounds (in some cases just pure sine tones) to create rich and complex sonic environments.
David is composer based out of Brooklyn, New York and Kitchener. He is interested in translational music, sound derived from real or artificial environments. He earned an MA from Wesleyan University studying with Anthony Braxton, Neely Bruce, Alvin Lucier, and Ron Kuivila. In addition to his individual practice, David is a member of the artist collective spurse and part of the improvisational duo Polish Club.
