An eloquent and quietly emotional work, Canadian composer Ann Southam’s Simple Lines of Enquiry relies on its slow unraveling to evoke a magically suspended, weightless sound world. Its stillness and intimacy invite listeners into an environment of deep listening and contemplation.

Eve Egoyan is considered to be one of Canada’s most important concert pianists specializing in contemporary repertoire and she has had the pleasure premiering many of Ann’s works. Eve’s recording of this work was named one of 2009’s “Ten Exceptional Recordings” by New Yorker writer Alex Ross.
