Symposium
Creating New Musical Environments: Music Curation in the 21st Century
King Street Theatre Centre Studio - FREE
At a time of great transition in the field of concert music we need to look not just to composers and performers, but to the curators of music – the people who frame the work we hear – for indications of where things are headed. “Music curation” is an art practiced by many who work in music performance situations under such titles as “music director”, “artistic director” or “band leader”: people who make choices about what gets heard and the context in which it is presented. This symposium brings together a wealth of nationally and internationally renowned curatorial talent from across a wide spectrum of music making and other arts to discuss the reinvention of music as we know it.
